Winter Concerts Our Mira Mesa Orchestras will be presenting two winter concert this year. These performances will take place on Wednesday, December 6th and Friday, December 8th. Both of these events will begin at 7:00 pm. Ticketing information for each event is available below and is also available via our Facebook page. Wednesday, December 6th The concert on Wednesday, December 6th will include our Debut Strings, a chamber orchestra taken from our larger Concert Strings, and Symphony Strings. The evening will conclude with two musical collaborations featuring our Symphony Strings and Madrigals choral ensemble. Collaborative selections include Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium and Franz Schubert's Gloria (from Mass in G, D. 167). Friday, December 8th The performance on Friday, December 8th will feature our Concert Strings, a string quartet, and our Symphony Strings. Selections for this program include works by Michael Daugherty, Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Mikhail Glinka. In addition, the concert will feature the ***North American Première*** of Martien Van Der Zwan's Psalm 1, for piano and strings. All-State Orchestra Deadline Applications and audition materials for the 2018 All-State Orchestras, sponsored by theCalifornia Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), are due to Mr. Mulvaney by Wednesday, November 29th. Should any student still seek the opportunity to record their audition in Mira Mesa High School's sound studio, please see Mr. Mulvaney for access! Winter Concerts Our Winter Concerts will be held next week on Wednesday, December 6th and Friday, December 8th. Both concerts will take place at 7:00 PM. Performing on Wednesday, December 6th will be our Debut Strings, Concert Strings (Chamber), and Symphony Strings. In addition, the evening will end with two collaborative pieces alongside our Mira Mesa Madrigals. Performing on Friday, December 8th, will be our Concert Strings, String Quartet, and Symphony Strings. This evening will include the *** North American Premiere *** ofMartien van der Zwan's Psalm 1, as performed by our Concert Strings. Mira Mesa High School Foundation | Thank You!
Thanks to the altruistic efforts of the Mira Mesa High School Foundation, our Mira Mesa High School Orchestras will be provided a new string bass, cello, and six sets of strings (five cello and one bass) this year. The Foundation supports not only our orchestras, but a large number of academic, athletic, and co-curricular groups on campus.
